THC and CBD

THC

Cannabinoids are the active ingredients produced by cannabis plant. Over a hundred different cannabinoids have been identified, but research to date has focused on two of them: delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). THC is the substance that is responsible for the psychoactive effects, or the « gel » effect that one feels when using cannabis. Scientific studies, as well as anecdotal evidence, suggest that THC is effective for PTSD, functions as an appetite stimulant in patients with HIV or AIDS, reduces nausea and vomiting caused by cancer treatment, and helps patients fight insomnia, inflammation and pain.

CBD

CBD causes almost no psychoactive effects and is promising for epileptics, including children with a severe form known as Dravet’s syndrome. CBD has also been used successfully by patients with genetic disorders of the brain, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and Parkinson’s disease.

CBD also helps to better tolerate the « gel » effect caused by THC and can impact the likelihood of patients experiencing paranoia or anxiety caused by THC. Trichomes that are grown on the outside of marijuana blossoms contain the active ingredients of cannabis, including THC and CBD. Learn about production processes by clicking HERE.
